True Temper Celebrates 17th Win of 2009 PGA Season
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — True Temper’s high-performance shafts delivered a Big Easy victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The win marked the 17th PGA Tour victory of the 2009 season and demonstrated complete dominance in the field with nine of the Top 10 finishers playing True Temper brands.
The win also marked a major milestone for this week’s champion, who with a strong push on Sunday’s back nine ended a seven-year win drought and earned a $1.1 million payday. He played True Temper Black Gold steel shafts in his Cleveland irons and finished at 14-under 274 with a first in the field for Greens in Regulation (79.17%).
“We’re very excited about this latest win in New Orleans,” says Ray Lucas, vice president of sales and marketing for True Temper Sports. “True Temper is the No. 1 shaft company in the world, and our frequent victories on the PGA and other pro tours around the world are perfect examples of how precision engineering, quality materials and innovative design pay off week after week, year after year. It’s why the top golfers in the world trust True Temper shafts.”
In the final tally of iron shafts, True Temper shafts accounted for 146 of 156 sets of iron shafts (93%) in play at the Zurich Classic — 67 sets of Dynamic Gold shafts (43%), 29 sets of Project X shafts (19%) and 15 sets of Rifle shafts (10%). There were also 12 new PX Prototype graphite shafts in play this week.
